Guardian Ad Litem Panel

Friday, February 8, 2019

The United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts, with the assistance of the Court's Pro Bono Legal Services Advisory Committee, is pleased to announce the implementation of a Guardian Ad Litem (G.A.L.) Panel.

Through this program, attorneys may join the Panel and, pursuant to Fed. R. Bankr. P. 1004.1, the Court will appoint Panel members to assist any debtor who is an infant or an incompetent person. The request to join the Panel is located here on the Court's website. The attorney must provide basic information including a description of prior experience. Please note, however, that prior experience is not required to serve on the Panel. The guardian ad litem shall be entitled to allowance of reasonable compensation and reimbursement of expenses ordinarily and necessarily incurred as an administrative expense in this case after notice and a hearing upon application to the Court.

The Court will begin accepting requests immediately for inclusion on the Panel.
